Neural Oscillation Signature Theory (NOST) proposes that cognitive and affective states leave measurable signatures in linguistic output. These signatures can be extracted, quantified, and mapped to a 12-sector neural oscillation model, enabling objective cognitive assessment from language and voice alone.
The theory is operationalized through the Neural Oscillatory Spectroscopy System (NOSS), which classifies linguistic features into 12 clinically validated sectors spanning mood, anxiety, psychotic processes, neurocognitive function, developmental patterns, optimal functioning, traumatic brain injury markers, neurodegenerative indicators, captivity and coercive control, substance use, dissociative processes, and personality organization.
